Sushmita Chakraborty Mishu is a passionate media educator and storyteller, currently serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB). She holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka, where she was awarded the prestigious Ataus Samad Scholarship in 2022 for her academic performance.
Sushmita has also gained valuable professional experience. Before joining the World University of Bangladesh, she worked as a Staff Feature Writer at The Business Standard newspaper, where she produced well-researched feature stories offering in-depth analysis and insightful perspectives. Additionally, at the South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID), Sushmita analyzed media through a gender-focused lens and played a key role in impactful initiatives, including the PRIMED (Protecting Independent Media for Development) project, organized by the Netherlands-based media organization Free Press Unlimited. She also worked at Panjeree Publications, creating educational materials.
Beyond her academic and journalistic work, Sushmita is committed to community initiatives related to media and communication. She participated in the Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) to promote gender-sensitive media content and organized lecture series with the Banglar Pathshala Foundation to foster discussions on media and society.
